Miss Montana United States - 2022

Alora Martin

I've been working with the Firefighters Burn Institute since I was 11 years old. This non-profit organization provides burn survivors with support, resources and recovery programs and teaches fire safety and prevention to the public. I coordinate an annual Fill the Boot Drive that raises between $9,000 and $14,000 each year. I also founded the Miss Fire Safety pageant which allows young girls to have a fun pageant experience while also raising money for burn survivors. In November 2018, the deadliest and most destructive fire in California history blazed less than an hour from my home. Over 80 people were killed and nearly 19,000 structures were lost. The devastation of my community inspired me to expand my mission to include not only supporting burn survivors through their recovery, but also educating society about the importance of fire safety to hopefully reduce the number of fires and along with it, injuries and damages. Since that fire four years, over 15 million acres in my home state have burned, demonstrating how vital this work is.
