The focus of my platform is Alcoholism prevention and recovery. As a daughter who lost her mother to the disease of alcoholism, I was unable to help her. One of our goals is to expand outreach to people who are in need of help and support. In the United States alone, it is estimated that more than 140,000 people die of alcohol related causes, annually. Worldwide 5.3% of all deaths are due to harmful use of alcohol. My organization "Shine a Light on Recovery," otherwise known as S.A.L.O.R. is a program that brings special awareness to the problem of alcoholism. It renders prevention and recovery by working with people who are struggling with it, alongside nationwide foundations like the Salvation Army. I feel that it’s my personal mission to bring awareness to this disease, and through my organization S.A.L.O.R, we can achieve our goal!
