Miss Florida United States - 2020

Kayla Kussrow

A while back I began to follow a social media influencer named Kassady Bingham. She had a cute style, two super cute little boys and we have the same shared love of Jesus, Disneyland and all things Bachelor. What was more interesting and intriguing about her profile, though, was that her youngest son Milo was diagnosed with infantile leukemia at only two months of age. I watched every post and every story. I saw the highs and lows, the ups and the downs. I saw the tears, the pain, the frustration. The anxiety in the waiting and the pain of loss when she had to bury her baby boy. Milo gained his angel wings on February 23, 2020 and my heart absolutely broke. It was Milos story that inspired me to make my platform children’s cancer research. It was his journey that caused me to become a bone marrow donor through Be The Match. And it’s Milos story, and the story of over 15,000 children who are diagnosed with cancer each year (JUST in the US) that cause these tears to fall as I write this. Because they deserve more than 4% of the federal budget for cancer research. We cannot sit back and let this continue. Together we can make a difference. Together we can prevent more parents like Kassady from having to bury their children. And together, we can #endchildhoodcancer
